Premiile “Dove Awards”, versiunea crestina a Premiilor Grammy, sunt prezentate si oferite in fiecare an, de catre Gospel Music Associaton pentru realizari deosebite in industria muzicala crestina.
Premiile se ofera in cadrul unei ceremonii, ce se desfasoara, de obicei in Tennessee si cuprinde si reprezentatiile celor mai de succes artisti, din anul care tocmai a trecut. Intre 2004-2006, premiile au fost oficial numite “GMA Music Awards”, dar ulterior, au revenit la mai bine cunoscutul nume “Dove Awards”.
Anul de debut al acestei gale, a fost 1969 si reprezinta o larga paleta de genuri muzicale, incluzand metal, pop, rock, rap & hip-hop, country, gospel si praise & worship.
Pentru prima data, din 1970, cea de-a 42-a editie a Dove Awards, va avea loc in Atlanta, Georgia, pe 20 Aprilie, la Fox Theatre, gazda fiind Sherri Sheperd.
Unii dintre cei mai cunoscuti artisti de catre publicul romanesc, TobyMac si Chris Tomlin, au fost nominalizati pentru titlul de “Artist of the Year” si “Song of the Year”.
De asemenea, Francesca Battistelli, desemnata vocea feminina a anului 2010,a primit patru nominalizari, aceasta marturisind ca a urmarit cu emotie momentul citirii listei cu numele nominalizatilor.
MercyMe au primit 3 nominalizari, incluzand cea pentru “Song of the Year” cu piesa “All of Creation”. Alti nominalizati la aceasta categorie sunt Jason Crabb, Chris August, Chris Tomlin, TobyMac, Sanctul Real, Mikeschair, Francesca Batitstelli si Triumphant Quartet.
Dintre trupele rock cele mai nominalizare au fost:
Trupa RED, castigatoare din 2010 a titlului “Rock Album Of The Year” pentru albumul “Innocence & Instinct” primeste o nominalizare “Rock Recorded Song of the Year” pentru piesa “Start Again” care face parte din albumul mai devreme mentionat.
Am remarcat lipsa unor formatii precum Anberlin sau Underoath care au lansat anul acesta albumec si au o prezenta semnificativa si in industria muzicala laica.
